This is a field-based position for ecologists involved in sampling and studying plants, soils, and rangeland ecology across Utah and Nevada, requiring camping in remote locations and working on an 8-day on, 6-day off hitch schedule from March to September.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field sampling of plants, soils, and rangeland ecology in remote locations throughout Utah and Nevada.
Operate on an 8-day on, 6-day off hitch schedule during the field season.
Camp in remote, non-established sites during fieldwork.
Work collaboratively within a crew consisting of a crew lead and technicians.
Prioritize and perform field tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Communicate findings and progress clearly to team members and supervisors.

This is a field-based position that operates on an 8 days on Tuesday through Tuesday followed by 6 days off throughout the season.
Camping will be required during field work, often in remote locations not at established campsites.
Positions available include Field Ecologists, Crew Leads, and Technicians.
Sampling occurs throughout Utah and Nevada.
Start dates are tentatively March 2, 2026, or March 30, 2026.
All positions end in late August or early September, with potential extension into September based on location, performance, and need.
The position requires working in remote locations, often in challenging environmental conditions.
Candidates must be able to start and end their hitches at Salt Lake City, UT, which is the base location, but do not need to reside there.
The position involves working in outdoor environments, which may include camping in remote areas, often not at established campsites.
