Job Description
This is a field-based position for ecologists involving sampling and research related to plants, soils, and rangeland ecology, requiring camping in remote locations and working on a seasonal hitch schedule throughout Utah and Nevada.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field sampling of plants, soils, and rangeland ecology in remote locations across Utah and Nevada.
- Operate on an 8-day on, 6-day off hitch schedule, including camping in remote areas.
- Lead a crew of three individuals, including one crew lead and two technicians, during field activities.
- Prioritize and perform field tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate findings and progress clearly to team members and clients.
Requirements
- The qualified individual must be highly motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Position requires camping in remote locations, typically not at established campsites, during field work.
- This is a field-based position that operates on a hitch schedule of 8 days on Tuesday through Tuesday followed by 6 days off throughout the season.
- Crews will consist of three individuals: one crew lead and two technicians.
- Sampling will occur throughout Utah and Nevada, with start dates tentatively between March 2, 2026, and March 30, 2026, and all positions ending by the end of August or early September, with potential extension into September based on location, performance, and need.
