Job Description
The Staff Data Engineer at Equilibrium Energy is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, processing systems, and database models to support machine learning and analytics, enabling efficient data integration and real-time data processing for clean energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build data flow channels and processing systems to extract, transform, and load data from various sources using APIs
- Store data in feature stores for machine learning models
- Develop data pipelines using Airflow for near real-time data processing
- Design and develop database models and schemas in Postgres, maintaining database code
- Write GraphQL queries with Hasura to interact with databases
- Build DevOps pipelines and automate application build and deployment processes using Gitlab
- Participate in system design discussions and present designs to product teams
- Conduct software testing, fix defects, and debug code to ensure quality
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Operations Research, Engineering Management, or a related field.
- Five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Quality Analyst, Software Engineer, or a related occupation.
- Experience developing a globally distributed data services platform for five years.
- Five years of coding experience leveraging Python, Go, Java, or other applicable languages such as Rust or Julia.
- Five years of experience in data analysis and ETL/ELT pipelines to transform and collect data for accessibility to customers.
- Five years of experience in developing and operating large-scale data pipelines with technologies such as Airflow, Luigi, Spark, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, Relational Database Management Systems, and SQL.
- Five years of leveraging relational databases and transactional databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Five years of experience in query authoring SQL to provide analytics and data access to customers or applications.
- Five years of experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
- Five years of experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Five years of experience leveraging unstructured datasets to extract complex data from ambiguous requirements.
