Job Description

The Utility Operator is responsible for the continuous and safe operation of port equipment, monitoring, cleaning, and performing basic maintenance, while supporting receiving, quality, and housekeeping tasks in a manufacturing environment focused on sustainable wood bioenergy production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull to move dust collection bags
  • Receive pellets and record data accurately
  • Collect samples, test finished goods, and record data
  • Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly work area
  • Escalate operational issues to the team as necessary

Requirements

  • Follow all workplace and job safety procedures.
  • Keep area clean of accumulated dust and keep area generally neat and orderly to meet housekeeping standards.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat, Lull, etc. to move dust collection bags.
  • Receive pellets and record data accurately.
  • Collect samples, test finished goods, and record data accurately.
  • Communicate to Operations team escalating issues as necessary.
  • Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation.
  • A quick learner, ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Safely and efficiently perform all essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
  • Ability to operate the machine in a timely and safe manner.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
