Job Description
The Utility Operator is responsible for the continuous and safe operation of plant equipment, including monitoring, maintenance, and support activities to ensure efficient biomass production in a challenging industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment such as skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance to ensure proper functioning
- Support routine inspections and maintenance of dryer, furnace, emissions, and environmental equipment
- Perform daily preventative maintenance activities including cleaning and tooling changes
- Ensure safety procedures are followed during all operations
Requirements
- Operate mobile equipment including skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders.
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
- Support and carry out activities with routine inspections and maintenance of the dryer, furnace, emissions, and environmental equipment.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance activities such as cleaning emissions equipment strainers, changing tooling, housekeeping, and wash downs.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation.
- Safely and efficiently perform all essential functions of the job.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Ability to operate the machine in a timely and safe manner.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
