• Receive logs, chips or other material into the plant.
• Inspect loads to ensure quality criteria is met.
• Weigh incoming trucks, issue a ticket for receipt into the plant and re-weigh truck upon exit of the plant to ensure accurate billing.
• Ensure safety of scale area and that loads are not brought in that do not meet safety criteria.
• Keep scale and ramps clean and free of debris.
• As first point of contact, communicate in a professional, courteous manner with our suppliers.
• Assist drivers with the scaling system and safety protocol to ensure accurate information and driver safety.
• Other jobs as directed.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use a touch-screen computer.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in the wood industry
• At least 1 year of manufacturing/industrial experience
• Prior industrial safety knowledge, OSHA training, etc.
• Willingness to cross train
• Willingness to work overtime to fill in for other scale house operators
• Ability to identify logs, hardwood chips, softwood chips and other wood products
• Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
• Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
