Job Description
The Scale House Attendant Operator at Enviva is responsible for inspecting, weighing, and processing incoming wood loads, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, while providing excellent customer service at the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial inspection of loads and ensure quality criteria are met
- Weigh incoming trucks, issue receipt tickets, and re-weigh trucks upon exit for accurate billing
- Ensure safety of the scale area and compliance with safety criteria for loads
- Keep the scale and ramps clean and free of debris
- Communicate professionally with suppliers and assist drivers with scaling system and safety protocols
Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to use a touch-screen computer.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in the wood industry.
- At least 1 year of manufacturing industrial experience.
- Prior industrial safety knowledge, OSHA training, etc.
- Willingness to cross train.
- Willingness to work overtime to fill in for other scale house operators.
- Ability to identify logs, hardwood chips, softwood chips and other wood products.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
