The position involves receiving, testing, and maintaining quality of wood pellets at a port facility, along with performing housekeeping, safety, and equipment operation duties in an outdoor industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and record pellets at the port, ensuring accurate billing and safety compliance
Conduct quality testing of finished goods and maintain QA/QC records
Operate mobile equipment and maintain cleanliness of work area
Perform safety certifications, follow safety procedures, and escalate issues as needed
Enter maintenance requests and communicate operational information
Requirements
Receive pellets into the port, record data to ensure accurate billing, and ensure safety of the scale area and that loads meet safety criteria.
Keep the scale and ramps clean and free of debris.
Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with suppliers.
Operate shuttle wagon as directed, specific to the Port of Wilmington.
Collect samples and test finished goods delivered by truck and/or rail, maintain QA/QC records, and follow Quality Standard Operating Procedures.
Analyze equipment performance and make quality results.
Keep the area generally neat and orderly, operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull to move dust collection bags, and keep the area clean of accumulated dust.
Follow all workplace and job safety procedures.
Complete safety certification as required for the position.
Communicate operational information as required.
Enter maintenance work requests as applicable and escalate issues promptly for proper resolution.
Perform other duties as required and serve as a back-up resource as needed.
Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required, understanding maritime requirements.
High school diploma or ability to complete GED requirements within six months of hire.
Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
Proficient in mathematics and measurement.
Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
Willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments.
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
Willing and able to lift and pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully in compliance with ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
