The position involves safely loading bulk cargo onto vessels using heavy equipment, following safety protocols, maintaining accurate records, and performing basic mechanical troubleshooting in an outdoor industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safely load bulk cargo onto vessels using heavy equipment, cranes, and ship loaders
Follow safety procedures and regulations to meet load rates and quality standards
Maintain accurate records of cargo weights, measurements, and quantities
Inspect and operate heavy equipment and rigging, performing basic mechanical troubleshooting
Ensure vessel is loaded correctly according to load plan and customer satisfaction
Communicate effectively with the operations team and ship crew
Perform equipment inspections and assist maintenance with repairs
Keep work areas clean and organized
Requirements
Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required
Excellent communication skills
Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines
High School Diploma or GED
Previous experience with bulk material loading
Previous experience in Maritime industry
Mechanical aptitude
Must be able to work in outdoor environment and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
Work includes high places more than 175 feet, use main lifts and work in confined spaces
Willing and able to maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and crawling and pulling for up to twelve (12) hours per day
Able to work in high places more than 175 feet, use man lifts and work in confined spaces
Able to work around moving equipment and machinery
Able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs
Able to safely and successfully perform and essential job functions consistent with ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
