Job Description
The Mobile Grinding Operator is responsible for operating heavy industrial equipment to unload, resize, and store raw wood material, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met in a renewable energy production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy industrial equipment such as front-end loaders, grapple loaders, and forestry machine knuckle-boom loaders to unload trucks, load raw materials, and support woodyard operations.
- Operate grinding attachments to resize raw materials to specified target dimensions and store or process the resized product.
- Collect and analyze grinding samples to ensure operations meet quality specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Manage raw material blending, mixing, and feeding processes to meet production targets.
- Maintain accurate documentation of operations and quality data.
- Ensure work area cleanliness and safety compliance through daily housekeeping and safety practices.
Requirements
- Five years of previous heavy industrial equipment experience.
- Internal company mobile equipment certification is required.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Proficiency in mathematics and measurement.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to commute.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision and be a quick learner.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Ability to walk on slippery or uneven surfaces, climb ladders, and work off elevated surfaces up to 25 feet on an occasional basis.
- Willing and able to operate heavy material moving equipment requiring extended periods of sitting, and perform tasks such as occasionally pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate levers with both hands while seated for long periods.
- Willing and able to bend, squat, climb, and lift items above shoulders occasionally.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
