Job Description

This role involves leading and managing a maintenance team in a manufacturing environment to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement maintenance methods to reduce downtime, minimize costs, and optimize asset utilization.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise to increase machine reliability and reduce breakdowns.
  • Manage and supervise mechanics and electricians to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met.
  • Lead and coordinate response to unexpected breakdowns and maintenance issues.
  • Train and evaluate team members on safety procedures, maintenance practices, and certifications.
  • Plan and communicate daily work schedules, review work backlog, and coordinate with other managers.
  • Lead shift handover meetings to communicate safety incidents, schedule updates, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and maintenance protocols.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of plant equipment such as air compressors, boilers, and HVAC systems.
  • Manage work requests, emergency repairs, and spare parts inventory efficiently.
  • Collaborate with team members to control maintenance costs and improve purchasing practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or related discipline, with 5 years of supervisory experience delivering reliability improvements in a fast-changing manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of 7 years of experience, education, and certifications.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams and supporting autonomous manufacturing teams as they deliver continuous improvements.
  • Experience managing Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) practices.
  • Proven track record coaching, mentoring, motivating, and managing employees' skills development.
  • Demonstrated experience proactively leading and coaching teams to solve problems, utilizing automatic line monitoring and other reliability improvement processes.
  • Experience setting business targets to drive and sustain continuous loss reductions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Experience with applied working knowledge of time, condition, and predictive-based maintenance processes.
  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillars - Autonomous and Effective Maintenance in a process environment.
  • Working knowledge of Analytical Process Mapping.
  • Ability to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees, including hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments.
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts to address unexpected site issues.
  • Ability to work on call on nights and weekends as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, crawling, and pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
  • Ability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA.
  • Less than 10% travel to other Enviva locations for training purposes or as necessary.
