Job Description

The Senior Project Engineer oversees and coordinates external engineering support for renewable energy infrastructure projects, ensuring technical quality, compliance, and timely delivery across various disciplines such as solar, wind, storage, and high voltage interconnections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate external engineering firms supporting project development, design, and delivery.
  • Participate in the EPC RFP process and manage third-party engineering firms across multiple disciplines.
  • Review engineering scopes of work, deliverables, and schedules to ensure alignment with project timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical support for supply chain reviews of BESS, PCS technologies, PV inverters, and MV transformers.
  • Support project build activities, including RFPs, ordinance reviews, and technical guidance for engineering designs.
  • Coordinate high voltage electrical design and equipment with grid integration and procurement teams.
  • Conduct site layout risk analysis and review to ensure compliance and optimal design.
  • Manage external engineering consultants during construction, including RFI processes and design coordination.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, contractors, stakeholders, and external agencies.
  • Support or manage external relationships with local governments, permitting agencies, utilities, and interconnection entities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 5-7 years of experience in the renewable energy sector or industrial construction or capital project management
  • Advanced knowledge of power generation technologies, interconnection requirements, and contractor management
  • Competency in analytical problem solving, customer partner relationships, and technology expertise
  • Experience with High Voltage Interconnection aspects of a project’s Scope of Work (SOW)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Project, Excel), Procore, SiteTracker, and other discipline-relevant software
  • AutoCAD experience specific to project development
  • Ability to coordinate and manage third-party engineering firms across multiple disciplines including renewables, CCGT, HV electrical, geotechnical, etc.
  • Experience creating and reviewing engineering deliverables such as 10%, 30%, 60%, 90% design packages
  • Experience reviewing scopes of work, deliverables, and schedules for engineering consultants
  • Experience reviewing and risk analyzing site layouts and high voltage single line drawings
  • Experience supporting or managing relationships with external entities such as local government, permitting agencies, pipeline utility companies, and interconnecting utilities during project development
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and handle multiple projects under pressure with a high degree of independence and professional judgment to deliver projects within deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
