Job Description
The Senior Project Accountant at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for managing project financials, including tracking costs, forecasting cash flows, preparing financial reports, and supporting audits, primarily within a solar energy project environment. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and requires strong accounting skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Track project margins and monitor revenue and cost inflows and outflows
- Provide forecast and estimates for project cash flow and analyze actual versus estimated costs
- Review coding on purchase orders and invoices to ensure accurate margin tracking
- Prepare financial reports, journal entries, accruals, and assist with management reporting
- Maintain schedules for inventory transfers and equipment allocation
- Review and process accounts receivable and payable, including open purchase orders
- Assist with quarterly invoicing, supporting documentation, and high-level financial analytics
- Support annual audits and ensure proper tax accounting for projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; public accounting experience is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting is required.
- Previous experience in an accountant or audit role in the construction or maintenance industry is highly preferable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong accounting knowledge.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be inquisitive, have the desire to learn, and demonstrate initiative to reach out to various departments to complete tasks.
- Excellent analytical reasoning abilities.
- Superior interpersonal abilities, including the ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactfulness, maturity, and flexibility.
- Ability to effectively communicate with support peers, all levels of corporate management, and independent auditors.
- Results and people-oriented with sound judgment and the ability to balance other business considerations.
- Thorough, detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of performing effective self-reviews.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, working in the office at least 3 days per week in Durham, NC, and remotely on other days.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams including Asset Management and Operations.
- Ability to prepare and review financial reports, journal entries, accruals, and manage financial activities such as inventory transfers, equipment tracking, and project cost analysis.
- Ability to review and ensure accuracy of accounts receivables and payables, open POs, and support quarterly invoicing and analytics.
- Assist in annual audits and coordinate with corporate tax compliance to ensure proper tax accounting for each project.
