Job Description
The Senior Development Project Accountant is responsible for managing accounting functions for project entities, preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting reports to investors and management within a renewable energy company.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all accounting functions for project-level entities, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Manage accounts receivable, cash payments, lease accounting, debt service, and financial reporting activities.
- Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and reports for investors and management.
- Record and reconcile inter-company transactions and eliminate inter-company activities for consolidated financial statements.
- Coordinate with auditors during the annual audit process and support the preparation of audited financial statements and footnotes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 4 years of experience preparing journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, financial statement support workpapers, and account analysis
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including but not limited to the ability to use Sumifs, vlookups, pivot tables, and other basic Excel functions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to prepare supporting documents and record complex journal entries in areas such as cash, prepaids, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, leases, debt, interest rate swaps, various operating expenses and revenues, investment and equity
- Ability to record and reconcile inter-company activity, including inter-company payables, receivables, investments, and lease payments
- Ability to prepare reconciliations for Balance Sheet related accounts
- Ability to manage and record flow of fund requests for funds
- Ability to run ad hoc analysis and detail as required
- Ability to understand and record eliminating journal entries for intercompany activities and prepare consolidated financial statements for investors, lenders, and management
- Experience in the preparation and review of various reports including net cash flow and debt service coverage ratios
- Experience in preparing annual audited financial statements and footnotes, and working with independent auditors to provide support for the annual audit process
