Job Description
The Project Accountant at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for managing accounting functions for various solar and storage projects, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and fund management, to support investor and management needs in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full cycle accounting functions for Fund- and Project-level entities, including accounts receivable, cash management, lease accounting, debt service, and fixed asset accounting
- Prepare and record complex journal entries and reconciliations for various accounts such as cash, prepaids, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, and inter-company activity
- Manage flow of fund requests, perform ad hoc financial analysis, and prepare consolidated financial statements and reports for investors, lenders, and management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or closely related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience working in accounting, finance, treasury or a closely related field
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including but not limited to the ability to use Sumifs, vlookups, pivot tables, and other basic Excel functions
- Understanding of solar tax-equity structures or experience performing full cycle fund accounting in solar or otherwise is a huge plus
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Must be able to perform full cycle accounting functions within their assigned entities, including maintenance of accounts receivable, management of cash payments, lease accounting, debt service, fixed asset accounting, calculation of preferred returns for investors, financial account reconciliations, and various other cash and reporting activities
- Ability to prepare supporting documents and record complex journal entries in areas such as cash, prepaids, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, fixed assets, leases, debt, interest rate swaps, operating expenses and revenues, investment and equity
- Ability to record and reconcile inter-company activity, including inter-company payables, receivables, investments, and lease payments
- Ability to prepare reconciliations for Balance Sheet related accounts
- Ability to manage and record flow of fund requests for funds
- Ability to run ad hoc analysis and detail as required
- Understanding and ability to record eliminating journal entries for intercompany activities and prepare consolidated financial statements for investors, lenders, and management
- Experience in the preparation and review of various reports including debt covenant ratios
- Ability to prepare annual audited financial statements and footnotes, and work with independent auditors to provide support for the annual audit process
- Ability to assist with onboarding new funds, including performing cost segregations for fixed assets
- Ability to handle various other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager
