Job Description

The Field Service Technician at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of solar assets across project sites. The role involves fieldwork, equipment testing, safety compliance, and travel within the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar PV systems
  • Conduct testing of DC and AC systems, including polarity, voltage, grounding, communication, and insulation resistance
  • Maintain tools, meters, vehicles, and spare parts inventory
  • Create service reports and document system issues and repairs
  • Identify and eliminate safety hazards on-site
  • Respond to emergency service cases and on-call support as needed

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends, and manage work both in the field and remotely.
  • Experience with PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring, with a minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, Ground Fault Detection.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Must have completed OSHA 10 HR Training.
  • Must have NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace certification.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
  • Experience conducting on-site routine maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities, including DC and AC testing such as polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, and I-V curve tracing.
  • Experience responding to corrective maintenance cases to troubleshoot, test, and repair PV systems ensuring safety practices are followed.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures, including PPE requirements such as hard hats, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to create operability and major issue downtime reports.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
