Job Description

The Repair Assembly Technician performs a variety of repair, assembly, disassembly, and finishing tasks on aerospace and marine gas turbine engine components, following OEM standards and receiving extensive training in a modern, climate-controlled facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including OEM and engineering work instructions.
  • Use hand-held power and non-power tools to perform assembly, disassembly, and repair operations.
  • Perform metal blending, grinding, polishing, and coating processes to restore or finish engine components.
  • Disassemble and assemble engine components, including press-fit parts, rivets, and lock wiring.
  • Operate small machines such as drill presses and lathes for repairs and modifications.
  • Use measuring devices like calipers and micrometers to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect work for quality and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or Technical High School diploma or the equivalent in a trade school.
  • Experience in another industry that may have similar types of skills requirements, such as automobile mechanic, body work, sheet metal fabrication or woodworking.
  • Experience in the use of general hand tools and power tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic shop math, including working with decimals and fractions.
  • Some experience and understanding of the use of measuring gauges such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately including sketches, drawings, engineered work instructions and original equipment manufacturer s instructions (OEM).
  • Ability to use a variety of hand-held power and non-power tools to perform various operations.
  • Ability to blend various metals, weld, plate, and spray coatings.
  • Ability to blend and remove nicks and high metal to create smooth transitions or return parts to original contour.
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble engine components, including assembly of components parts to main frames, press-fit bushings, inserts, rivets, self-locking nuts, and lock wiring.
  • Ability to drill, tap, re-drill holes using hand drills, reamers, chamfer tools, and taps.
  • Ability to operate small machines such as drill press and lathes to perform repairs.
  • Ability to use measuring devices to determine specific dimensions.
  • Ability to inspect work for completion and quality to company, customer, and manufacturer standards.
  • Ability to participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts, including communication with engineers, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Willingness to work in a climate-controlled and modern manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work in difficult positions from time to time, including standing and sitting for portions of the shift.
  • Ability to move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Use of powered and non-powered hand tools frequently during work.
