Job Description
The Repair and Assembly Technician performs a variety of repair, assembly, and finishing tasks on aerospace and marine gas turbine engine components, following OEM specifications, with training provided through a combination of computer-based and hands-on instruction in a modern, climate-controlled facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including sketches, drawings, and OEM work instructions.
- Use hand-held power and non-power tools to perform various operations.
- Perform metal blending, welding, plating, and coating applications.
- Remove nicks and high metal to restore parts to original contour.
- Disassemble and assemble engine components, including press-fit bushings, rivets, and lock wiring.
- Drill, tap, re-drill holes, and operate small machines such as drill presses and lathes.
- Use measuring devices to determine specific dimensions and inspect work quality.
- Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Experience in another industry that may have similar types of skills requirements, such as automobile mechanic, body work, sheet metal fabrication or woodworking.
- Experience in the use of general hand tools and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic shop math, including working with decimals and fractions.
- Some experience and understanding of the use of measuring gauges such as calipers and micrometers.
- High School diploma or Technical High School diploma or the equivalent in a trade school.
