Job Description

The Production Supervisor in the machining department oversees daily operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in manual, CNC, and grinding processes while leading a team to meet customer and production goals in a modern aerospace manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety protocols and guidelines are followed to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Oversee daily department activities, including manual, CNC, and grinding processes.
  • Monitor work completion and review projects to ensure adherence to scope and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with trainers and managers to develop employee skills and implement process improvements.
  • Participate in department meetings and communicate changes affecting staff.
  • Ensure team members follow work instructions, use proper tools, and inspect parts for quality.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel team members to achieve performance goals.
  • Prioritize tasks with production planners and ensure timely completion of orders.
  • Adjust production schedules as needed due to machine outages or staffing changes.
  • Manage personnel work hours, shift schedules, and overtime to meet customer requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and track performance metrics for process enhancements.
  • Conduct performance reviews, employee development, and handle conflict resolution in partnership with management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Three years experience or similar as a machinist with knowledge or familiarity in one, all, or a combination of machining to include set-up and operation of manual lathe, milling or ID OD grinding, and CNC lathe, milling or ID OD grinding.
  • Two plus years or similar experience in GD T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Reading and the interpretation of shop drawings and technical diagrams.
  • Experience in and a demonstrated solid foundation in the knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • High School graduate, with advanced educational accreditation preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Overall knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Familiarity with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
  • Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
