Job Description
The Parts Cleaning Technician is responsible for performing chemical and mechanical cleaning processes on gas turbine engine components, following detailed procedures and safety protocols, while receiving extensive training to develop necessary skills in a state-of-the-art aerospace maintenance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow detailed procedures for processing engine components during the chemical clean line process.
- Perform cleaning operations such as chemical cleaning, power washing, nitric stripping, paint stripping, and titanium oven bakes.
- Use overhead cranes and ensure adherence to tank times and process parameters.
- Accurately log all process steps and results in department logs.
- Communicate work-related issues and problems with supervisors or other departments.
Requirements
- Some work experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
- Knowledge of machines, equipment, and workplace safety.
- Ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions.
- Demonstrated ability or experience in being able to effectively communicate with team members, including recognizing and adapting to a structured training program.
- High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Work in varying positions from time to time, including standing and/or sitting for portions of the shift.
- Ability to move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Ability to move less heavy parts weighing up to 50 pounds with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
- Frequent exposure to wet and warm conditions.
- Follow all safety and environmental rules that apply.
- Use of safety and personal protective equipment is mandatory under some conditions, including ear plugs, safety glasses, face shield, chemical resistant protective jackets, and uniforms if required.
- Occasional use of powered and non-powered hand tools.
- Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
