Job Description

The Non-Destructive Testing Technician-Level II inspects turbine engine components using nondestructive testing methods, such as penetrant and magnetic particle inspection, while completing training and certification to advance in the field within a modern aerospace repair environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete on-the-job training and NAS410 certification for Level II in NDT methods.
  • Perform non-destructive testing inspections on turbine engine components following OEM procedures.
  • Set up, standardize, process parts, interpret results, and document inspection outcomes.
  • Understand the limitations of NDT techniques used for part certification.
  • Conduct fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) and fluorescent magnetic particle inspection (FMPI).
  • Perform system performance checks according to process standards.
  • Seek guidance from certified Level II or Level III inspectors when necessary.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Level I or II in NDT methods for which qualification and or certification is required.
  • The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings.
  • Previous experience in the use of overhead cranes.
  • Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.
  • High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Previous experience and or the ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet pre-employment testing requirements, including a vision test to meet minimum standards for qualification, including color perception and near vision.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection when required.
  • Work in varying positions, including standing and sitting for portions of the shift.
  • Move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
