Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for tracking, organizing, and delivering parts through the repair process in a modern aerospace facility, supporting production control and ensuring efficient workflow. The role involves physical movement of parts, operating tracking systems, and collaborating with team members to maintain smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Track parts through repair processes and organize storage areas
- Monitor completion times to increase throughput
- Deliver parts to other buildings and assist with shipping and receiving
- Physically move parts between departments using appropriate equipment
- Use electronic tracking systems, including RFID technology, for part identification and location
- Provide and organize skids, carts, or racks based on departmental needs
- Verify matching part numbers, serial numbers, and tracking information
- Prepare priority lists and distribute receiving lists for departments
- Coordinate part scrapping and ensure proper documentation
- Assist in maintaining safety protocols and proper handling of parts
Requirements
- One year's experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
- Experience in the use of skids, pallet jacks, and forklifts lift trucks.
- Ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions.
- High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
- Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
- Work in difficult positions from time to time, including standing and/or sitting for portions of the shift.
- Physically move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Use powered and non-powered hand tools frequently.
