Job Description
An experienced Manual Milling Machinist Technician responsible for precisely machining turbine engine components to meet OEM specifications, working in a modern, climate-controlled facility as part of a skilled team in the aerospace and marine industry sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow work instructions and use gauges and tools to inspect parts and determine material removal requirements.
- Operate manual milling machines to achieve specified dimensions on turbine engine components.
- Use inspection tools to ensure dimensional accuracy and correct machining issues related to tools and fixtures.
- Record inspection findings and machining data accurately.
- Perform finishing operations such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work as needed.
- Participate in training and provide expertise in on-the-job training for machinist technicians.
Requirements
- Five plus years of experience in the operation of Manual Milling equipment in a job shop type environment, MTO made to order environment, and first article experience.
- Five plus years of experience in creative problem solving related to machine setups, tooling, and fixturing.
- Firm understanding of GD T, critical dimensioning, and the relationship between dimensions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the indication of fixtures and parts to achieve required runouts, including setting adjustable tooling, understanding timing or rotational values, creating machining starting points based on existing features, and creating a flat plane for the start of machining.
- Rework experience.
- Technical high school diploma, machinist trade school, or equivalent work experience.
- Set-up experience with tooling and fixtures with the ability to follow instructions per technical drawings or work instructions.
- Familiarity with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand English, and communicate effectively with other employees.
- Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
- Ability to stand and/or sit for portions of the shift and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Occasional use of powered and hand-held tools.
