Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring facility cleanliness, and supporting grounds and equipment upkeep in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The role involves working independently and as part of a team to maintain safety, functionality, and appearance of the shop and facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform facility maintenance tasks such as painting, groundskeeping, and material handling.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Repair, maintain, lubricate, install, and replace plant equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, windows, machinery, and the overall facility.
  • Record and maintain maintenance documentation and procedures.
  • Operate company vehicles to transport supplies and materials.
  • Identify and report plant deficiencies and unsafe conditions.
  • Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Must be able to read and follow written work instructions and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate a tow motor
  • Valid driver s license and a clear driving record for the past 3 years
  • Employee must submit to a Motor Vehicle Record Check upon offer of employment and annually thereafter, with unacceptable records including DUI, Reckless Operations, and Fleeing the Scene of an Accident
  • Education, training, and developed competencies in industrial maintenance including electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical controls, and systems along with fabrication
  • Previous snow plowing and land scaping experience
  • Ability to operate small equipment such as skid steer, small tractors, scissor lifts, JLG lifts, etc.
  • Work in varying positions from time to time, including standing and sitting for portions of the shift
  • Able to move parts weighing 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods
  • Able to move less heavy parts weighing 50 pounds with or without hoists, slings, or carts
  • Frequent exposure to wet and warm conditions
  • Work in environments with loud noise levels in some areas
  • Follow all safety and environmental rules that apply
  • Use of safety and personal protective equipment is mandatory under some conditions, including ear plugs, safety glasses, face shields, and chemical resistant jackets
  • Occasional use of powered and non-powered hand tools
  • Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam
