Job Description

The Machine Department Manager oversees the manufacturing processes involving manual, CNC, and grinding operations, leading a team to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in turbine engine component repair within a modern, climate-controlled facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the entire Machine Department, including manual, CNC, and grinding processes.
  • Lead and motivate a team of technicians and shift supervisors to meet production goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct daily, weekly, and monthly departmental activities.
  • Ensure safety protocols and company safety policies are strictly followed.
  • Monitor work progress and review completed jobs to ensure quality and adherence to scope.
  • Utilize software to assign, verify, track, and monitor job metrics and progress.
  • Conduct performance reviews, employee development, and manage personnel scheduling and attendance.
  • Collaborate with trainers and other managers to improve employee skills and process efficiencies.
  • Identify operational issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years experience as a supervisor or manager in a manufacturing environment or similar.
  • A minimum of five years experience in interpreting and following verbal and written instructions accurately, including the reading and interpretation of shop drawings and work scope instructions, and applying basic shop math skills to the same.
  • High School graduate, with advanced educational accreditation preferred.
  • Experience in and a demonstrated solid foundation in the knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while adhering to a high attention to detail standards.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Overall knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gauges such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in reading and applying in-depth work instruction and diagrams to daily work assignments.
  • Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  • Ability to follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
