The Senior Manager of Gas Power Engineering is responsible for providing technical leadership and project management for natural gas-fired power generation projects, ensuring successful delivery while maintaining safety, environmental standards, and compliance across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of natural gas-fired power generation projects.
Manage project lifecycle activities including feasibility studies, air permitting, engineering design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
Oversee and review engineering design packages to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, regulators, and stakeholders to support project development and approval processes.
Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk management plans.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are integrated into all project phases.
Provide technical expertise on natural gas turbines, combined cycle systems, HRSGs, and balance of plant systems.
Develop standards and best practices for gas generation project design and implementation.
Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and best practices across projects.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in power generation, with significant expertise in natural gas fired technologies such as simple cycle, combined cycle, or cogeneration.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
Proven track record managing large, complex engineering construction projects.
Strong knowledge of gas turbine technology, thermodynamics, plant operations, and system integration.
Excellent project management skills, with experience in schedule, budget, and risk management.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with senior leadership, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Ability to work in the Salt Lake City, UT or Dana Point, CA office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Ability to travel up to 20% as required.
