The Senior Multiphysics Modeler will develop simulation tools and workflows to support the design and integration of fuel cycle systems for a pioneering fusion power plant, applying first-principles modeling of heat and mass transport within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Develop simulation toolkits and workflows integrating multiphysics simulations with industrial process models for fuel cycle systems.
Collaborate with the tritium program and process engineering team to develop a fuel cycle model for the fusion power plant ARC.
Apply first-principles approaches to solve complex engineering problems related to heat and mass transport modeling.
Optimize device performance by tuning material parameters and performing non-dimensional analysis and integrated simulations.
Create tools and teach team members to independently utilize simulation models and workflows.
Requirements
A degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
Experience in process modeling and programming.
Demonstrated ability to apply a first principles approach in solving complex engineering problems.
Experience conducting cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the economics of proposed solutions.
Proven success working on engineering projects in multi-disciplinary teams to generate effective solutions to complex problems.
Expertise in heat and mass transport modeling.
Ability to develop simulation toolkits and workflows that integrate first-principles multiphysics simulations with industrial process models.
Experience supporting technology development and subsystem integration for key fuel cycle systems.
Ability to optimize devices by tuning material parameters.
Appreciation for simplicity, including non-dimensional analysis and rigorous integrated simulations.
Ability to teach and build tools that others can use independently.
