Job Description
A Mechanical Engineer responsible for executing and overseeing the manufacturing and assembly of the Toroidal Field Coil system for fusion reactors, ensuring successful transition from design to physical implementation while resolving technical challenges and gaining practical experience in high-field superconducting magnet systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Own technical execution of the Winding Pack subassembly from final design to physical implementation.
- Serve as the technical anchor on the manufacturing floor to resolve complex non-conformances and validate as-built conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of the SPARC mission and project milestones.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience in executing mid-to-long-term assignments critical to project success, with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Ability to own the technical execution of a key Winding Pack subassembly as it transitions from final design to physical realization.
- Proficiency in using deep mechanical engineering fundamentals to resolve complex non-conformances and validate as-built conditions on the manufacturing floor.
- Demonstrated capability to serve as a technical anchor during manufacturing processes, ensuring the successful building and testing of superconducting magnet systems.
- Self-starter with a strong desire for continuous learning and eagerness to bridge the gap between rigorous analysis and rapid execution.
- Experience working closely with cross-disciplinary teams including HTS magnet systems, R&D, Physics, Quality, Production, Assembly, and Program Management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to dynamic project needs.
- Compliance with U.S. export control laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information, with any employment offer contingent on such compliance.
