Job Description

The Manager of Mechanical Engineering leads the design, fabrication, and performance of specialized manufacturing equipment and tooling for high-precision hardware used in superconducting magnet production, translating technical visions into actionable plans and ensuring robust mechanical solutions to support fusion energy development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and optimize specialized manufacturing equipment and tooling for superconducting magnet production.
  • Translate artistic and technical visions into detailed engineering plans.
  • Lead the development of high-precision hardware to support production scale-up.
  • Establish technical standards and ensure team delivers robust mechanical solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience in the design, fabrication, and performance of specialized manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Ability to translate artistic and technical visions into actionable engineering plans.
  • Proven leadership skills as a hands-on manager responsible for leading a team through the development of high-precision hardware.
  • Demonstrated capability to cascade creative vision and establish technical excellence within a mechanical engineering team.
  • Track record of delivering robust mechanical solutions that meet production scale-up targets.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments driven by values of integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
  • Ability to work on-site as this role is designated LI-Onsite.
