Job Description

The Director of Project Development will lead the planning, permitting, and execution of the first grid-scale commercial fusion power plant, overseeing site development, securing approvals, managing project schedules, and establishing a pipeline of future sites to bring fusion energy to the grid by the early 2030s.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to deliver grid-scale commercial fusion power plants by the early 2030s.
  • Manage all aspects of project schedules, including securing permits and approvals for construction on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with internal teams, third-party consultants, engineers, lawyers, and partners to overcome obstacles and ensure project success.
  • Establish a pipeline of viable sites for future fusion power plant development.
  • Build positive public support at local and regional levels for project sites.

Requirements

  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans to deliver fusion power plants to the grid by the early 2030s.
  • Experience managing all aspects of project schedules, including securing all permits and approvals required to begin construction on schedule and within budget.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver the first grid-scale commercial fusion power plant.
  • Experience developing and establishing a pipeline of viable sites for future power plant development.
  • Ability to work closely with internal teams, third-party consultants, engineers, lawyers, and allies to overcome obstacles and ensure positive outcomes.
  • Experience working on projects that require securing permits and approvals for construction.
  • Ability to establish positive public support at the local and regional levels for future development sites.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and navigating regulatory, legal, and community engagement processes.
  • Demonstrated tenacity, drive, and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Compliance with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information (Export Control Laws).
