The Wind Site Manager oversees the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a wind farm, including performance monitoring, staff management, maintenance, and stakeholder communication, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee safe and compliant operation of the wind farm
Monitor plant performance, maintenance, and reporting
Create and implement annual operating plans and budgets
Set operational performance goals and evaluate staff and contractor performance
Resolve performance and land utilization issues
Coordinate with landowners, authorities, and vendors regarding environmental and contractual matters
Participate in contract negotiations with subcontractors and vendors
Troubleshoot wind turbines and perform high-voltage equipment switching
Service, maintain, and repair substation and collection systems
Lead and coordinate turbine technicians' efforts
Assist with SCADA data management, reporting, and troubleshooting
Monitor wind conditions, turbine performance, and staff activities regularly
Develop, implement, and train staff on operational programs and procedures
Communicate site issues with support departments and follow up as needed
Respond to plant outages on a 24/7 basis
Requirements
Ability to safely handle and work with objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to report to the work site without transportation assistance.
Ability to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet.
Ability to stand outside the nacelle and nosecone at the top of the turbine.
Ability to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color coded wires.
Ability to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments.
Ability to travel as required.
Ability to work safely in a confined space.
Meet the requirements of CEG’s Qualified Electrical Worker program.
In-depth knowledge of NERC standards and other utility regulatory requirements, power purchase contracts, operations management, and financial reporting.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and maintain high value wind installations at or above projected performance levels and within budget.
Proficiency with operations financial management, forecasting, and controls.
High School diploma is required.
A 4-year degree in business, engineering, or related field is preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the wind industry.
Possess and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
