Clearway’s Portfolio Finance team is a key contributor on both the development and operating sides of the business, covering both transactions during the construction and operations phases. The Portfolio Finance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the investor funding process for Clearway’s utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects. In addition, the Portfolio Finance Analyst will be highly involved in certain asset optimization transactions, including, but not limited to, refinancings, acquisitions of investor interests, “as is” valuations, and other forms of restructurings.
This position is located in San Diego (Del Mar), CA.
• Supporting (i) the funding process with tax equity investors, cash equity investors, and lenders for Clearway’s wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects under construction, and (ii) the identification and execution of valuation maximization opportunities for Clearway’s fleet of operating assets, which includes refinancing, tax/cash equity buyouts, repowering analysis, term loan facilities, and other ad-hoc restructurings.
• Supporting the transaction lead on the internal deal funding checklist and a subset of certain “conditions precedent” for funding; responsibilities may include (i) implementing bringdown assumption updates to funding models, (ii) coordinating deliverables associated with the engineer, transmission consultant, insurance consultant, and other 3 rd party advisors, and (iii) other documentation-related funding conditions.
• Updating tax equity tracking models, consistent with the requirements of the tax equity partnership agreements, regularly, to track tax equity investor return on investment, flip dates, and other financial outcomes.
• Lead the cash distribution waterfall process for a subset of operating projects and calculation of ongoing “Pay-Go” invoicing.
• Establishing and sustaining productive, efficient relationships across Clearway’s major departments and functions, including Capital Markets, Construction, Development, Asset Management, Energy Management, Legal, Accounting, and Tax, to ensure timely transaction closings and resolution of challenges.
• Collaborating frequently with lenders, tax equity investors, cash equity investors, consultants, and lawyers as part of Clearway’s construction period funding and operating period transactions.
• Summarizing project transaction status, risks/mitigants, and associated economic outcomes for senior management.
