Job Description

The Director of Construction oversees the construction management process, including planning, scheduling, project execution, and cost management, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and within budget. This role involves coordinating with stakeholders, managing contractors, and maintaining project documentation while reporting to the Vice President of Construction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction management, planning, scheduling, project execution, and cost management.
  • Connect with stakeholders to develop timelines and project deliverables.
  • Identify project pinch points to avoid delays.
  • Coordinate expectations and deliverables with vendors and internal resources.
  • Develop project execution plans for 3rd party construction.
  • Review plans and specifications for construction projects.
  • Confirm accuracy of the scope of work.
  • Evaluate and implement change orders.
  • Provide weekly and monthly status reports to the Vice President of Construction.
  • Inspect properties under construction to ensure compliance with specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • Maintain required construction records and file them in the project document management system.
  • Manage and report construction budget for each project.
  • Evaluate and monitor performance of 3rd party contractors.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to develop accurate budgets.
  • Review and approve all invoices related to construction.
  • Assist Procurement with contract, permit, and insurance requirements.
  • Ensure projects comply with client contracts, purchase agreements, and approved changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • 10 years of construction experience required.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high quality deliverables accurately and on time.
  • Experience in supervising and/or managing direct reports including hiring, annual reviews, delivering constructive feedback and directing work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications including performing financial and analytical computations in Excel.
  • Detail oriented and adaptable to changing working requirements.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines and working together to achieve company-wide goals.

Benefits
