The Assistant Controller at Charles River Associates oversees the company's accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, billing, and revenue accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls, while leading a team and supporting financial reporting and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Payroll Processing, Billings Collections, and Revenue Accounting.
Review and certify journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.
Manage month-end close processes and perform SOX controls.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance with GAAP.
Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
Analyze financial performance data and provide insights to senior management.
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including setting goals and career development.
Review vendor payments and manage operational processes related to financial transactions.
Assist with interpreting and operationalizing new technical accounting standards.
Requirements
CPA certification is required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience working at a public company, including public accounting experience.
Proven work experience as an Assistant Controller or similar senior financial management role overseeing the revenue, payroll processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
Ability to manage and mentor a team effectively.
Experience reviewing and redesigning operational processes.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and operational best practices.
Proven experience with ERP systems and process automation.
Ability to manage change and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
