At Celonis, we believe our people make us who we are and that “The Best Team Wins”.
Key Responsibilities
This is a unique opportunity to join Celonis' Legal team at the intersection of legal operations and legal technology. The Working Student / Intern will contribute to day-to-day contract administration and legal operations work while playing an active role in the team's efforts to build, refine and automate its evolving legal technology stack. Working closely with experienced legal operations and commercial legal professionals, the successful candidate will bring a genuine curiosity about artificial intelligence and its application to legal workflows — and the analytical ability to translate messy, real-world legal processes into structured, automatable systems.
This role suits a student enrolled in law, legal technology, information systems or a related discipline who is equally comfortable navigating a contract management system and experimenting with large language models. You do not need to be a developer — but you should be comfortable with structured thinking, prompt engineering and the kind of problem-solving that turns a complex legal workflow into a repeatable, AI-assisted process.
Requirements
Strong analytical and structured-thinking skills — able to break down complex, unstructured legal processes into logical, systematizable components.
Genuine interest in AI, legal technology and 'legal engineering'; keeps up with developments in LLMs and their practical application to legal work.
Hands-on experience with AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT or similar, including basic prompt design and iterative testing.
Ability to document and diagram workflows clearly, translating operational complexity into structured formats (e.g., process maps, logic flows, checklists).
Detail-oriented and well-organized; comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficient in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Suite.
Comfortable with ambiguity and new problems; proactive and self-motivated.
High level of discretion, professionalism and ethical standards when handling sensitive legal and commercial information.
Experience with or curiosity about CLM systems (e.g., Ironclad, Conga, DocuSign CLM, Juro), e-signature tools or legal intake platforms is a plus.
Basic familiarity with structured data (spreadsheets, JSON, CSV) and how information can be extracted from unstructured documents is a plus.
