This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and reliable back-end microservices using Go and Python, with a focus on API design, performance, security, and DevOps practices, to support Ubuntu's global infrastructure and community.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable, high-quality APIs and microservices in Go and Python
Write tests to validate software behavior and ensure robustness
Build and maintain reliable, fault-tolerant distributed applications and services
Collaborate with global teams through technical reviews, discussions, and documentation
Debug issues and implement high-quality solutions
Contribute to technical documentation and best practices
Participate in proactive security analysis, performance profiling, and system tracing
Engage in continuous improvement of practices related to scalability, performance, resilience, and DevOps
Requirements
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative path demonstrating relevant skills and experience.
Proficiency in Python and/or Go programming languages.
Experience with writing modern, maintainable software.
Experience with relational and non-relational database systems.
Continuous integration and continuous delivery experience.
Experience with systems programming or scalable web services.
Professional written and spoken English language skills.
Experience with Linux Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.

Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks each.
