Job Description
A MAAS Systems Engineer at Canonical is responsible for managing and operating a data center lab, developing automation tools to improve server deployment and configuration, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware and software reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and operate the lab for Ubuntu server certification of hardware and silicon designs
- Develop and maintain software to deploy, configure, and automate hardware and network systems
- Create integrations with testing and scheduling tools to enhance lab automation
- Remotely operate and ensure the availability of an automated server and network hardware lab
- Improve hardware and network monitoring through automation and testing
- Collaborate with hardware, kernel, and engineering teams to optimize hardware and software performance
Requirements
- A STEM Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Curiosity to find out why some systems misbehave, and drive to figure out how to make them behave
- Python programming experience
- Linux Administration experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
