Job Description
This role involves leading and developing the Seattle and Portland markets for CannonDesign by driving business growth, managing client relationships, leading project teams, and promoting the firm's design philosophy, with a focus on strategic planning, market expansion, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead high-performance, diverse teams focused on market growth and client engagement.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to achieve annual revenue growth targets.
- Lead client relationships at senior levels, managing project-specific work and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Promote the firm's brand externally and internally through speaking engagements, writing, and other activities.
- Develop and execute the market business plan to enhance client engagement, market differentiation, and team development.
- Drive top-line revenue growth by targeting new clients and nurturing existing client relationships.
- Achieve market profitability goals and ensure successful implementation of business plan initiatives.
- Assess, mentor, recruit, and develop staff to build a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive team.
- Lead strategic initiatives, market pursuit strategies, and participate in global practice improvements.
- Engage in market intelligence, strategy development, and differentiation activities to position the firm competitively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
- Current Registration Licensure in Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering is preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience with a proven track record of strategic growth, market and team leadership, and business development success in the S T Market.
- Strong presentation skills are essential.
- Exceptional client and people leadership skills are required.
- Professional acumen and maturity demonstrated by the ability to communicate authentically and respectfully are essential.
- Strong business acumen and proven ability to create and execute strategy are needed.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing, accountable teams.
- Must be able to demonstrate sound judgment and a sound approach regarding risk management and mitigation.
- Some travel required.
- Must be able to develop and lead high-performance diverse teams focused on the development and implementation of the Market Business Plan.
- Must be responsible for developing new business opportunities with new and current client partners to achieve top line targets, supporting a minimum 10% growth of the practice year over year.
- Must be accountable for the overall top line results of the market with a personal goal of achieving top line success of 3.0 million dollars per year in net signed fees.
- Must lead, engage, and partner at the highest levels with clients on billable project-specific work, and advance innovative solutions that differentiate the firm and foster strong long-term client relationships.
- Must act as a leading voice for the market both externally and internally through speaking events, writing, and other promotional activities.
- Must assess, mentor, coach, and recruit staff to build a high-performance, diverse, and inclusive team, and develop future leaders within the market.
- Must participate in developing and leading the market business plan, outlining strategies and actionable items to advance client engagement, market differentiation, and team building.
- Must collaborate with firm leadership to ensure successful implementation of business plan initiatives and achieve a minimum of 10% firm profitability level for the market each year.
- Must focus 35% of time on activities that support brand development and new business opportunities, 45% on engaging and partnering with clients on billable project work, and 10% on market leadership activities such as strategy development, market intelligence, staff growth, and recruitment.
- Must demonstrate a high level of knowledge of market trends, best practices, and evidence-based and research-based design.
- Must have a proven ability to create and execute strategy, and to foster client relationships that lead to future opportunities.
- Must have experience in leading strategic initiatives and client pursuit discussions.
- Must have the ability to communicate professionally with authenticity and respect, demonstrating sound judgment and risk management approach.
