Job Description
The position is for a Project Architect responsible for leading the technical development, coordination, and documentation of complex institutional or commercial projects, ensuring design intent, quality, and compliance throughout all project phases from pre-design to construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of technical aspects and content of projects, ensuring integration across disciplines.
- Manage critical path processes from pre-design through project completion.
- Coordinate with project team and quality leaders to support project quality and compliance.
- Establish and maintain project schedules, work plans, and budgets in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve project-related issues and risks.
- Guide the development and execution of project documentation strategies and technical documentation.
- Ensure design intent is translated into technical documentation and construction phases.
- Integrate building performance and sustainable design goals into the project.
- Monitor project documentation for contractual compliance and quality standards.
- Lead coordination of all disciplines to align with architectural design intent.
- Oversee the review and verification of contract documentation and specifications.
- Manage construction administration responsibilities, including RFIs and submittals.
- Supervise and mentor project team members, focusing on technical quality and process standards.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor degree in a relevant field required.
- Minimum 10 years of related professional experience required.
- Experience must include 5 years in increasingly responsible roles in construction documentation on institutional and or commercial projects.
- At least 3 years in a responsible role in construction administration on large institutional or commercial projects.
- Previous experience on large, complex projects.
- Previous experience on Healthcare projects is required.
- Current Architectural Registration in Canada required.
- Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
- Must possess business acumen.
- Must have strong client leadership skills.
- Must have strong technical leadership skills for production team.
- Must be capable of leading and mentoring less experienced staff.
- Must have advanced knowledge in discipline.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software.
- Travel required.
