Job Description

The Convergence Director is responsible for leading market growth initiatives, enhancing brand presence, and fostering collaboration across regions and sectors to drive firm-wide impact, revenue, and strategic development within assigned markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional, national, or international growth plans aligned with the firm's strategic framework.
  • Lead efforts to grow brand awareness and secure new business opportunities within assigned markets.
  • Collaborate with firm leaders to create market-specific business strategies and entrepreneurial initiatives.
  • Support top-line revenue growth by sourcing new project work, strategic partnerships, and client relationships.
  • Build and strengthen the firm's brand through external representation, thought leadership, and content development.
  • Lead and inspire internal teams to foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive culture aligned with firm values.
  • Partner with other market and firmwide leaders to advance integrated service offerings and market expansion.
  • Identify and evaluate new markets, practices, and business lines for potential investment and development.
  • Work closely with the Brand, Marketing, Business Development, and Design teams to enhance firm reputation and visibility.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and thought leadership opportunities to elevate brand presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required for this role. Advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Generally, at least 20 years of work experience within the assigned markets or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Significant experience and proven track record within the markets assigned to this role, as demonstrated by progressive leadership responsibilities and employment experience at well-known and highly respected organizations or companies within the respective markets.
  • Visibility and positive reputation within industry networks of value to the firm and the markets we serve.
  • Track record of consistent presence, visibility, and championing a unique and thoughtful point-of-view at thought leadership and industry events.
  • Identifiable and recognizable personal brand and/or professional reputation consistent with CannonDesign's ambitions and values.
  • Significant travel is required.
  • Ability to develop and execute regional, national, or international growth plans that align with the firm's strategic framework.
  • Ability to achieve a minimum of 10% year-over-year growth in assigned core markets and submarkets over a 10-year period.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies for organic growth of existing locations and markets in one or more regions.
  • Experience in building CannonDesign brand and sub-brands through sourcing work and developing strategic partnerships with other firms, industry, or academic partners.
  • Experience in launching new office locations, services, or business lines.
  • Experience in building out new capabilities, market lines, and services through close collaboration with Regional Directors.
  • Ability to contribute to the firm’s annual financial success by supporting an after-TCC profit margin in the range of 15% to 25%.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams internally and externally, demonstrating influence and impact in core markets and industries.
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong external network, including industry leaders, talent, and strategic partners.
  • Ability to represent the firm externally at national and international events, conferences, and workshops, with a goal of participating in 3-5 venues annually.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills to energize, inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing, accountable teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with firmwide leaders, including Convergence Directors, Regional Directors, and Practice Leaders, to support growth initiatives and strategic alignment.
  • Ability to define and execute a strategic convergence market growth plan aligned with the firm's Strategic Framework and partner with other leaders to contribute to regional business plans.
  • Experience in identifying growth market opportunities, key target clients, and setting yearly Net Signed Fee targets to increase business volume by a minimum of 10% annually.
  • Ability to support research and development efforts, and to identify and develop new markets, practices, and business lines for investment and growth.
  • Ability to work closely with the BMBD leadership team to develop content that enhances the firm’s image, brand, and market footprint.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a sizable external network that leads to new opportunities and elevates the firm’s brand.
  • Ability to complete mandatory compliance training and adhere to internal policies and the firm's Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, sound judgment, and ethical leadership in all professional activities.
  • Ability to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and demonstrate inclusive leadership.
