Job Description

The position is an executive management role responsible for leading regional growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence for CannonDesign's Central Region, focusing on expanding business, fostering leadership, and promoting design and sustainability excellence across multiple offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a regional growth plan with at least 10% year-over-year growth
  • Build and lead a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive senior leadership team in the region
  • Define and implement a strategic regional growth and business development plan
  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities, clients, practices, and business lines
  • Oversee and ensure the quality, risk management, and profitability of regional projects and business practices
  • Represent the firm externally at events, conferences, and in communications to promote brand and leadership
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to develop and support best practices in project management, risk mitigation, and financial stewardship

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required for this role. Advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Generally, at least 20 years of related experience or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working in the Architecture, Engineering, and Interior Design (A E I) industry is required.
  • Proven track record of ability to lead and inspire others is required.
  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic regional growth plan with a minimum of 10% year-over-year growth.
  • Experience in sourcing, building, and advancing a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive senior leadership team including region and office-based talent.
  • Experience in defining and implementing business strategies and entrepreneurial initiatives focused on regional growth and impact.
  • Experience partnering with Practice Leaders, Market Leaders, and Business Line Leaders to identify growth market opportunities, key target clients, and annual Net Signed Fee targets.
  • Experience evaluating and addressing senior talent needs in the region, including building strong leadership teams capable of expanding growth potential.
  • Ability to identify and develop new markets, practices, and business lines for investment and development.
  • Experience supporting research and development of new ideas, services, and products to differentiate the firm and expand business potential.
  • Experience championing best practices in project management, risk management, process improvement, project leadership, and financial stewardship, in partnership with Regional Practice Directors.
  • Ability to achieve or exceed profitability goals for the firm and the region.
  • Ability to represent the firm externally at community-based events, conferences, and broader events to support the firm’s brand and direction.
  • Effective communication skills to write, speak, and communicate through external venues, and to develop and execute internal communication processes.
  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability in professional actions.
  • Ability to demonstrate optimistic and inclusive leadership of a diverse team.
  • Strong business acumen with a sound approach regarding risk management and mitigation.
  • Effective internal communication skills to energize, inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
