This position involves assisting in the design and documentation of electrical systems such as lighting, power, communication, and fire alarm systems under the supervision of a licensed engineer, primarily for projects in various sectors including education, healthcare, and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
Design lighting, power distribution, communication, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems under supervision
Prepare technical design documentation
Review and markup shop drawing submittals
Produce quality drawings following instructions and red lines
Recommend improvements for process, quality, and coordination
Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required by hire date
Related student internship work experience preferred
EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification preferred
Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Navisworks or similar applications preferred
Ability to design lighting, power distribution, communication systems, telecommunications systems, and fire alarm systems under supervision
Ability to prepare technical design documentation under supervision
Ability to review and markup shop drawing submittals
Ability to produce quality drawings following red lines and verbal instructions
Knowledge of basic understanding of National Electrical Code, chapters 2 and 3
Willingness to visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs
Must be able to perform site visits as required
