Job Description
At Canadian Solar, our vision is to make lives better by bringing electricity powered by the sun to millions of people worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- The Technical Solutions Manager is part of the e-STORAGE engineering team responsible for developing and managing utility-scale battery energy storage solutions worldwide. This role specializes in power-side technologies — including inverter systems (central and string) and medium voltage transformer (MVT) equipment — and their integration within BESS platforms.
- This role leads technical due diligence of third-party and in-house power conversion and medium voltage equipment, guides internal product development, and ensures compliance with certification and grid requirements. In addition, the Technical Solutions Manager will collaborate closely with engineering, business development, and execution teams to refine the product vision, lead internal technical resources, and drive development of internal tools that strengthen performance validation and enhance overall solution competitiveness.
- Own the technical evaluation of power-side equipment, including inverters, power conversion systems, and medium-voltage transformer solutions
- Support supplier qualification by reviewing technical proposals, comparing equipment options, and recommending suitable vendors or technologies
- Work with engineering, product, procurement, and business development teams to shape power-side solution architecture for utility-scale BESS projects
- Translate technical requirements, customer needs, and market feedback into product requirements, roadmap input, and solution development priorities
- Support certification, compliance, and technical validation activities, including coordination with internal teams, suppliers, and independent engineers
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation, specifications, evaluation records, and solution materials to support internal alignment and customer-facing activities
- Provide technical guidance throughout product integration, commercialization, and field feedback cycles to improve solution performance and competitiveness
Requirements
- Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics, inverters, power conversion systems, energy storage, or related electrical equipment
- Strong understanding of inverter technologies, central or string inverters, medium-voltage equipment, and their integration into BESS or renewable energy systems
- Experience with product development, applications engineering, commissioning, technical solution development, or equipment qualification
- Familiarity with grid compliance, interconnection requirements, product validation, and relevant standards such as UL, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, or similar
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to engineering, commercial, supplier, and customer-facing teams
- Highly organized and collaborative, with the ability to lead cross-functional work across teams, time zones, suppliers, and stakeholders
- e-STORAGE uses AI-assisted tools during parts of the hiring process, including screening and workflow automation. All final hiring decisions are made by humans.
- This is a current vacancy, and we are actively hiring for this position.
