Job Description
The Director of Project Finance is responsible for analyzing and managing the financial aspects of utility-scale solar and storage projects, including developing financing strategies, creating financial models, supporting transaction closings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project development and funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage analysis of financing options for utility-scale solar and storage projects
- Support transaction execution from acquisition to divestiture
- Identify potential project investors and develop strategies to secure project financing
- Create and maintain complex financial models for project evaluation during development, construction, and operation
- Synthesize and model terms of construction loans, tax equity bridge loans, and sponsor equity structures
- Review project documentation and integrate assumptions into financial models
- Assess financeability issues related to project contracts and agreements
- Develop and run sensitivities in financial models to evaluate impact on key metrics
- Create marketing materials for fundraising and manage data rooms
- Coordinate review and approval processes to bring transactions to financial close
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-8 years of project finance or investment banking experience in the renewable energy or similar industry.
- Strong financial modeling capabilities and structuring experience.
- Familiarity with project finance structures, including tax equity, construction financing, and back-leverage.
- Experience creating marketing materials, including teasers, Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), and managing data rooms.
- Demonstrated ability to bring closure to complex and high-value financings transactions under tight timeframes.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including managing the financial, legal, and internal review and approval process to successfully close transactions.
- Strong communication skills with a proven track record in building relationships and working in cross-functional collaborative teams.
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
