Job Description
The Land Acquisition Associate supports the development and asset management of large-scale solar projects by managing due diligence, land negotiations, legal documentation, and project data analysis in a fast-paced renewable energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead due diligence tracking, portfolio analysis, and project status reporting for development pipelines
- Assist with market and site analysis, including land development criteria and land ownership investigations
- Review, resolve, and report on title matters to support project financing
- Coordinate with landowners, attorneys, surveyors, utilities, title companies, and other stakeholders
- Draft, abstract, and execute legal agreements such as purchase, lease, easements, and crossing agreements
- Prepare land project budgets and maintain related spreadsheets and documents
- Track and generate option payment spreadsheets
- Support special projects and reporting for other company functions including transmission, entitlement, engineering, originations, and finance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as real estate development, finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of real estate development or finance experience.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel and MS Word, including use of advanced features.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Basic understanding of real estate development or finance concepts.
- Ability to read and understand legal documents and real estate contracts.
- Resourcefulness, a meticulous eye to detail, and investigative skills are essential.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to read and analyze large amounts of project data.
- Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to take initiative.
- Passion for green energy and responsible development.
- Ability to assist with review, resolution, and reporting of title matters including vesting, mineral rights, liens, taxes, and other critical matters.
- Ability to coordinate efforts among landowners, attorneys, surveyors, utilities, title companies, and other key project stakeholders.
- Experience in assisting with drafting, abstraction, and execution of agreements such as purchase and lease agreements, amendments, easements, crossing agreements, estoppels, subordination agreements, and affidavits.
- Experience in tracking and generating option payment spreadsheets.
- Ability to assist with preparing land project budgets and maintaining related spreadsheets and documents.
- Experience working with and manipulating GIS databases is a plus.
