Job Description
The Technical Program Manager will oversee the end-to-end development, coordination, and scaling of lidar hardware products for Aurora's self-driving technology, working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of lidar hardware development from prototype to production scaling.
- Coordinate and deliver lidar products, ensuring technical milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Build and maintain detailed project schedules aligning technical development with executive constraints.
- Track and report program scope, risks, and costs to various stakeholders.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to synchronize technical workstreams and meet program objectives.
- Support supplier selection and develop partnerships with contract manufacturers for production scaling.
- Refine and implement tools for change management, budget tracking, and workflow automation.
- Identify and resolve communication gaps and resource conflicts to maintain project momentum.
Requirements
- Experience of 5 years in hardware product program management, project management, or engineering leadership.
- 5 years of experience in program project management tools such as spreadsheets, Gantt programs (Smartsheets, MS Project), and Jira.
- Proven track record of deconstructing complex projects into milestones and delivering results on schedule.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information for audiences at all levels.
- Expert collaborator with a high degree of organization and the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams under tight deadlines.
- Strong ability to grasp technical designs, interpret between technical fields, and proactively identify associated risks and challenges.
- At least 2 years of experience transitioning technical products to contract manufacturers and managing production scaling.
- Minimum of 3 days per week in the office at the Bozeman, MT location, with the ability to travel up to 25%, including international travel.
- Desirable: Experience managing a product through automotive qualification milestones.
- Desirable: Experience managing licensed Intellectual Property.
- Desirable: Experience managing a budget.
- Desirable: Experience with sensor development, preferably Lidar or Radar.
