Job Description

The Staff Quality Engineer at Aurora is responsible for leading the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving quality assurance processes across safety-critical software development for self-driving technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASPICE, ISO 9001, and ISO 26262.
  • Drive the execution and management of the Quality Deficiency Management process, tracking and resolving non-conformances.
  • Conduct process audits and lead root cause analysis for critical quality issues and test escapes.
  • Manage and execute internal audits related to requirements, architecture, test processes, and industry standards compliance.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor and communicate quality performance metrics.
  • Author and present technical quality analyses, audit reports, and process improvement recommendations to engineering teams and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent applicable technical experience.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in software quality assurance, quality engineering, or QMS process management.
  • Demonstrated experience in a safety-critical domain such as automotive, aerospace, robotics, or medical devices.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and deep command of a process model, specifically ASPICE.
  • Proven, hands-on experience in conducting process audits and leading structured root cause analysis.
  • Adept at querying, analyzing, and visualizing data to track and report on quality metrics.
  • Expert in tools such as Jira and Confluence for deficiency management and documentation.
  • Ability to develop, automate, and maintain reports for Quality Performance Metrics.
  • Experience managing and executing internal audit programs, including conducting audits for requirements, architecture, test processes, and ASPICE compliance.
  • Ability to track and report on audit findings, and work with teams to ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Experience in authoring and presenting technical quality analyses, audit reports, and process improvements to internal engineering teams and leadership.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to various audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide guidance and mentorship.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a cross-functional team, or as a project lead.

Base salary range of 163K-236K per year
