Job Description

The Remote Assist Specialist at Aurora monitors and tests autonomous vehicle systems, providing real-time feedback, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to support the development and safety of self-driving technology in a high-velocity environment.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor autonomous vehicle fleet and respond to trigger requests.
Conduct early-stage software testing and validate new features.
Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles during testing.
Log real-time feedback on vehicle autonomy and platform performance.
Identify root causes of system issues and escalate operational blockers.
Perform storm searches to identify testing workflow improvements.
Triage key on-road events and workflows related to performance metrics and compliance.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology and operational changes.
Provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations.
Keen attention to detail with the ability to spot subtle anomalies in telemetry that others might miss.
Ability to prioritize and make strategic, best-path decisions proactively in high-pressure situations.
Ability to remain unfazed by rapid pivots and thrive in environments where the plan evolves based on real-time data.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback to cross-functional stakeholders.
Valid U.S. driver’s license with a 5-year driving history, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings.
Availability to work rotating shifts including early mornings, late nights, or weekends with 2 weeks' notice and regular overtime as needed.
Willingness to work in a 100% in-office environment.
Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of how Aurora’s self-driving technology works, understanding that software and operational changes may happen daily.
Experience or ability to emulate Commercial Operations roles during new feature testing through various applications such as Aurora App, Terminal App, Inspector App, etc.
Ability to safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles for on-road and closed-course testing, adhering to safety standards.
Ability to respond to and resolve trigger requests from autonomous vehicles with technical logic and composure.
Ability to log real-time, high-fidelity feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance, and to identify patterns and root causes for engineering teams.
Ability to escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions, utilizing established standards to make safe decisions when faced with unknown variables.
Experience or ability to actively storm search during testing to identify areas for workflow and SOP improvements, hardening, or refinement.
Proficiency in triaging remote assist workflows and on-road events that are key to performance metrics and compliance.
Interest in technology tools, apps, gaming, flight simulators, or command-line interfaces that require high spatial awareness and multi-tasking (desired but not mandatory).
Proficiency in G-Suite and the ability to learn new, proprietary software applications rapidly (desired but not mandatory).
