Job Description
The Mission Control Specialist monitors autonomous vehicle operations remotely, responds to vehicle triggers, coordinates remote assistance, and ensures safety and efficiency during testing and real-world deployment of self-driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor weather, traffic, construction, and off-nominal activities along the route and determine appropriate actions.
- Respond to and resolve trigger requests from autonomous vehicles when Remote Assistants are unavailable.
- Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles during testing and operation.
- Log real-time feedback on vehicle autonomy and platform performance for engineering analysis.
- Identify operational blockers, brainstorm solutions, and escalate issues with suggested remedies.
- Establish and promote best practices to improve operational efficiency across teams.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology, software, and operational changes.
- Work on cross-functional projects to improve vehicle operations and safety.
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora.
Requirements
- Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
- Consistent focus on safety
- Ability to think critically
- Willingness to learn every day
- Valid U.S. driver s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
- Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Availability to work day or night shifts, including early mornings or late nights, on rotating shifts
- Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
- Schedule includes day and night shifts with the ability to work weekends
- In-office work at least 3 days per week in a hybrid work environment
- Ability to travel as needed
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $37.00 - $47.00 per hour, with eligibility for an annual bonus and equity compensation
Work schedule: Day and night shifts available, including weekends, with rotating shifts and overtime
Work environment perks: Hybrid work environment with in-office presence at least 3 days per week
