Job Description
The Hardware Engineering Summer Intern will work on developing and packaging components for Aurora's self-driving technology, focusing on sensor systems like LiDar, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete an impactful internship project aligned with Aurora's current priorities and product vision
- Collaborate with a dedicated mentor and other team members for project guidance and execution
- Develop skills and gain hands-on experience through events and practical work related to hardware engineering
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Solid State Physics, Optoelectronics, or a related field, with an expected return to a degree-granting program after the internship concludes in Summer or Fall 2026.
- Prior experience or coursework in sensor technologies like LiDar or Radar.
- Familiarity with product development of relevant systems.
- Experience in the design of high-power III-V active devices (desirable).
- Knowledge of laser physics and deep mastery of light-matter interaction in high-intensity fields and epitaxial design (desirable).
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as PhotonDesign, Lumerical, and RSoft (desirable).
- Hands-on experience with process design (desirable).
- Strong background in the testing and data analysis of semiconductor lasers (desirable).
Benefits & Perks
Compensation: $52.00 per hour for master's interns, $58.00 per hour for doctoral interns
Work schedule: Hybrid work environment with in-office presence at least 3 days per week
