Job Description
The role involves analyzing and managing forestry-based carbon projects, including conducting feasibility studies, statistical and geospatial analyses, and ensuring compliance with carbon protocols, to support sustainable climate impact initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare feasibility analysis documents for landowner carbon projects
- Perform statistical analyses of forest inventories and data sets
- Analyze remote sensing data to estimate carbon sequestration and emissions reductions
- Conduct silvicultural research across project regions
- Manage geospatial data and produce maps using GIS software
- Analyze financial costs and benefits of carbon project development
- Review easements and harvest prohibitions for project eligibility
- Articulate carbon analysis processes to landowners
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
- 1 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
- Experience implementing afforestation reforestation activities
- Experience working with a variety of forms of timber data
- Knowledge of a variety of North American forest types
- Experience in ArcGIS mapping and analysis
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of database management a plus
- Experience cleaning and troubleshooting data
- Experience in statistical analysis
- Knowledge of forest carbon policy, carbon protocols compliance and voluntary, and carbon accounting standards
- Experience and comfort managing client and third-party relationships
